Riley Rampley's Civil War pension is partially discussed in issue 50 of Casefile Clues. The bulk of the pension concerns his widow Nancy's application, but there is significant information on his service and his medical condition and his health after the war. Issue 50 concentrates on the report of the Special Examiner who was sent to interview his widow, her son and several neighbors in regards to her claim. Interesting stuff about Nancy's life and her financial status around the turn of the century.
Riley served in Company D, 78th Illinois Volunteer Infantry.
