How Derivative Is It?

In the next issue of Casefile Clues, we look at another declaration of intent. This one comes from Hamilton County, Ohio, in 1850 and is different from the one we looked at a few weeks back. The microfilm had a prefatory warning about the records:

 We'll talk about this warning and how it impacts the analysis of the declaration of Peter Bigger which is partially shown below. This record is not original--it is derivative in nature. We'll also look at the primary nature of the information it contains.

Readers will remember Peter from earlier issues. He and his wife settled in Warsaw, Hancock County, Illinois, and he died in the 1850s. His wife left quite a few records which we have also discussed and analyzed.
